Went to KL for the long weekend for my friend’s Hen’s night. There were about 8 of us and we are all secondary school mates so you can imagine just how much girly fun we had. Besides going wild at Zouk, we also checked out some of KL’s food delights. One of which was Madam Kwan’s. I had previously had Madam Kwan’s when I went to KL for the Man Utd match some time last year. I recall being extremely impressed by the Nasi Lemak. Reasonably priced, it was served with fragrant rice and tender curry chicken. The curry is deceptively not too spicy and very delicious. Needless to say, we had the nasi lemak this time around as well.

We made a new discovery though – fried kway teow. What was a seemingly standard Singaporean dish tasted incredible here at Madam Kwan’s. No one ordered it the last time I was at Madam Kwan’s so this was my first time as well. It was addictive and delicious!! It had a mix of Thai Fried Kway Teow and I guess local hawker flavours. We ended up with 2 servings as everyone loved it.
PS: Grandma’s is supposed to be Singapore’s answer to Madam Kwan’s. I have tried the nasi lemak and it is decently familiar but I have yet to try the fried kway teow. I wonder if it is as good as the one in KL…
Don’t order this! The sotong was awful. We barely ate it. Too sweet!
