Mid-Day Haven

Feeling thoroughly stressed out, I decided to seek comfort through the only way I know: Shao and Yummy Food.

S and I decided to check the German pub Brotzeit which we previously stopped by for drinks with E. I said I was going to try their all day breakfast so here I was, all set to sink my teeth into some eggs.

It was lunch hour but the place was barely seated. The ambience was good though. With natural sunlight streaming in, the dark wood and Paulener beer mugs prepare one for a laid back afternoon. I ordered the Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon whilst S ordered the Garlic Sausage. He was actually going for the pizzas but the peeps sitting next to us had the sausages and they smelt terrific so he swayed. :)

Garlic Sausages

My scrambled eggs were definitely not your average brunch scrambled eggs. There was a certain butter-milk taste to it. Although they were really just SCRAMBLED EGGS but they were definitely of higher quality and better tasting than those from MacDonald’s Big Breakfast, and those at Riders’ Cafe. The smoked salmon were very fresh and they were good. But I think the best smoked salmon I have had are still the ones in Hong Kong. But these came close. The Garlic Sausage was very tasty. Served with 3 different sauces, mainly mustard, ketchup and some funny sauce which was a blend of spice and sweet, gave the sausageĀ  a variety of flavours. The roasted potatoes that came with it was well done too. Being the greedy me, we ordered the spicy potato wedges as well. Now this was yum. We didn’t manage to finish it though as it was just too much.

On the whole, it was a good lunch but I don’t think I’ll be going back for meals. For drinks probably, but not for food. Don’t get me wrong, their food is great but just not awesome enough to have me head back. Plus, I kinda found it a little pricey. For those working in the area, I’d say it’s a good escape from the mundane and daily toil.
